During the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show last week, Brett Manire, the co-owner of Performance Boat Center, reported selling another Performance Powerboats 420 catamaran. That brings the number of orders for the multi-brand, Osage Beach, Mo.-headquartered dealership's new 42-footer to eight so far and, according to Johnny Bauer, who is spearheading the development of the Performance Powerboats catamaran brand, the company has another half-dozen orders for 36-footers.
Deliveries are slated to begin in the first quarter of 2023.
"We've been working on improving in-house processes such as paint and rigging," Bauer said. "We're bringing items with long lead times to the front of the build process. For example, right now we have to order SeaDek before lamination begins.
"We've also been working closely with new vendors," he added.
Bauer noted that Performance Boat Center has been wrapping up the final three builds of 36-footers from its previous hull vendor. He also mentioned that the build team at Performance Boat Center needs more members.
"We've been hiring in painting and lamination and still are," he explained. "We don't have to hire for interiors because we are still working with Ryan Schwarzen at Cutting Edge here in Missouri."
Bauer added that he's hoping to be in Key West, Fla., next week to represent the Performance Powerboats brand during the American Power Boat Association/Union Internationale Motonautique Offshore World Championships produced by Race World Offshore, as Performance Boat Center is the presenting sponsor of the event.
"We're looking forward to defending our Super Stock-class title and continuing to get the Performance Powerboats brand and brand-name out there," he said.
